Community Engaged Scholarship and Teaching Mentored Grant Program Request for Proposals INFORMATION PACKET PROGRAM: The Office of the Vice President for Multicultural Affairs and Community Engagement is interested in supporting Wright State employees to pursue community engaged scholarship and teaching (CEST). One mechanism to facilitate this goal is the Community Engaged Scholarship and Teaching Mentored Grant Program. Wright State employees interested in: 1) designing research to address the impact of community engaged teaching on students, curriculum, campus community, local community; 2) faculty interested in designing community engaged research are encouraged to apply. Applicants should identify another WSU employee with experience in CEST to serve as a mentor. ELIGIBIILTY: All fully affiliated Wright State University employees are eligible to apply. SUBMISSION: CEST grant proposals are submitted electronically to Christa Agiro (christa.agiro@wright.edu) or in hard copy to Christa Agiro, 325 Allyn Hall by 5:00PM April 22, 2016. SELECTION: Proposals will be submitted for review by a committee of faculty through the Office of the Vice President for Multicultural Affairs and Community Engagement. AWARDS: Awards are made to the applicants through their departments/units and include a stipend of no more than $3,000; up to 5 grants will be awarded during this academic year. Applicants who receive awards are encouraged to join the CEST Community of Practice and expected to share the outcome of their grant funded research with the CEST Community of Practice at the Annual CEST Forum. Provide a summary of your proposed research in 200 word abstract identifying the focus of the research, the community partners and anticipated outcomes. III Proposal Narrative A. Describe the research question(s) you plan to address. Describe the context in which the research will take place. Describe anticipated outcomes and potential application in future CEST. B. Provide a profile of the community partner(s) with whom you will be working and explain why they are the best choice of community partner for this research. C. Describe the research methodology, population to be included, and proposed data analysis. D. Complete appropriate IRB application and attach to proposal OR provide an explanation of why the research should be exempt from IRB review. E. Identify three potential publication sites for the results of the research. F. Provide a review of previous experience with CEST (service learning courses, community based participatory research, educational research, etc.) for both the faculty applicant and the faculty mentor. If CITI training has been completed, provide proof of completion. G. Describe how this research will further your professional goals within your department and in the larger university.
