Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Explain the responsibilities for the harvest and use of a customary catch by Māori organisations. Performance criteria 1.1 The explanation includes the responsibilities for the harvest and customary catch by the Māori organisation associated with a customary catch in accordance with legislation. 1.2 The explanation includes the reporting responsibilities of the Māori organisation after the event, for which a customary catch is used. Range 1.3 may include but is not limited to – Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki, iwi, hapū, marae, Ministry of Fisheries. The explanation includes the responsibilities of the Māori organisation for participating in sustainability and management measures for kaimoana, kaiawa and kairoto in accordance with legislation. Element 2 Develop policies for Māori organisations associated with the harvest and use of a customary catch. Range evidence is required for two policies for two Māori organisations. Performance criteria 2.1 Policies for the harvest and use of a customary catch are developed in accordance with iwi or hapū and tikanga requirements. 2.2 Policies for the harvest and use of a customary catch are developed in accordance with legislation. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
