Purpose
This unit standard is for people in the vehicle dismantling and recycling
industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to: complete
administration requirements; remove and store vehicle interior trim and
components; remove and store bolted-on and fastened-on panels; remove
and store welded and bonded-on panels; remove and store vehicle exterior
fittings; and remove and store vehicle windscreens, backlights, windows, and
frames.

Definitions
Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and
procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality
specifications, and legislative requirements.
Suitable tools and equipment means industry approved tools and equipment that are
recognised within the industry as being the most suited to complete the task in a
professional and competent manner with due regard to safe working practices.

Range
This unit standard includes the following body components – bolted-on and fastenedon body panels (guards, doors, bonnets, boot lids, spoilers, exterior panels), weldedon body panels, panels attached by adhesives, interior trim and fittings, exterior
fittings (bumpers, grilles, bezels, mouldings, wipers, aerials, badges, mirrors,
mudflaps, sill covers, tow bars, monsoons, door locks and handles), window glass
and frames.

Element 1
Complete administration requirements.
Performance criteria
1.1
Identification plates and vehicle number plates are returned to the supervisor for
vehicle de-registration purposes in accordance with company requirements.
1.2
Dismantling methods and administration procedures are identified in
accordance with company requirements.
Range
1.3

protective clothing, cleanliness and tidiness of dismantling area,
fire precautions, security procedures.
Stock records are updated in accordance with company requirements.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
