Inhibiting tactics refer to obstructive and/or offensive and/or deceptive behaviours. 2 Negotiation may be actual or simulated and must involve an element of opposition and the use of inhibiting tactics by the other party. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare for negotiation in relation to a personally-defined objective. Evidence requirements 1.1 The objective of the negotiation is defined and a range of acceptable outcomes are identified. 1.2 The other party is identified and described in terms of the power relationships and anticipated needs. 1.3 Consequences of non-agreement are identified for self and other party. Range includes – own BATNA (Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement). Evidence requirements 2.1 Actions demonstrated are consistent with win-win negotiation. 2.2 Inhibiting tactics used by the other party are met with responses which contribute to fair agreement being reached and which preserve the relationship in terms of further negotiation. Outcome 3 Evaluate own performance in the negotiation. Evidence requirements 3.1 Own performance is evaluated in terms of the outcome and the nature of the relationship with opposing party. Range 3.2 where an agreement is reached, the outcome is deemed to be fair by both parties; where agreement is not reached, the points of failure are identified. Based on evidence from the negotiation, conclusions are made in terms of improving own future performance in negotiation.
