Evidence requirements
1.1
Description includes reasons for, and effects of, road safety laws in terms of
costs, and avoidance of death, injury, and damage.

Description includes ways in which legislation provides for safe use of roads.
Range

remedies, establishing statutory bodies;
one example for each way.

Outcome 2
Describe statutory bodies and other organisations concerned with road safety, and their
roles.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Statutory bodies are described in terms of their jurisdiction, major functions and
relationships with each other in terms of road usage.

2.2
The statutory bodies are described in terms of their contribution to road safety.
Range
2.3
New Zealand Transport Agency, local bodies, the New Zealand
Police.
may include but is not limited to – education, use of road
engineering design, developing road safety standards, and
enforcement.
Three other organisations are identified in terms of their contribution to road
safety.
Range
may include, but is not limited to – Automobile Association, NZ
Motor Industry Training Organisation (MITO), Students Against
Driving Drunk (SADD), NZ Institute of Driving Educators (NZIDE),
Road Safety Trust, Community Road Safety Programmes (CRSP).
Outcome 3
Evaluate methods of encouraging road user compliance with road safety standards.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Methods that encourage road user compliance are evaluated in terms of their
contribution to road safety.
Range
3.2
education, road design, signage, driver compliance, vehicle
compliance.
Recommendations for possible changes to current methods are made in terms
of improving road user compliance.

Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA,
before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses
of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
