Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Describe household conservation strategies in relation to energy consumption. Evidence requirements 1.1 Appliances are described in terms of their initial purchase cost and estimated energy consumption over a period of twelve months. Range 1.2 two of – laundry, cooking, heating, lighting, hot water, cleaning. Ways of conserving household energy on an ongoing basis are described. Range may include but is not limited to – curtains, air circulation, insulation, appliances, heating, lighting; evidence of three different ways. Evidence requirements 2.1 Storage options are described which enable food quality to be maintained over the short and long-term. Range 2.2 Methods are described which enable leftover food to be stored and re-used safely. Range 2.3 short-term – fresh produce, bread, a dairy or meat product; long-term – a cereal, fresh produce. evidence of two methods. Methods for utilising or disposing of unwanted household food are described in terms of safety and the minimal or beneficial impact on the environment. Range may include but is not limited to – preserving, composting, feeding animals, giving away and/or sharing edible food, refuse disposal. Outcome 3 Describe household conservation strategies in relation to non-food consumables. Evidence requirements 3.1 Safe uses are described for used paper, plastic bags, and metal objects. Range 3.2 evidence of two uses for each. Safe disposal methods for unwanted household paper, plastic, glass, chemicals, and metals are described in terms of minimal impact on the environment.
