Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Demonstrate knowledge of AS/NZS standards and their impact on the selection of marine products. Performance criteria 1.1 AS/NZS standards are described in terms of their intended purpose and application to marine products. 1.2 The use of AS/NZS standards applying to marine products are described as a way of proving compliance with New Zealand maritime rules. Element 2 Demonstrate knowledge of Maritime New Zealand rules and their impact on the selection of marine products. Performance criteria 2.1 The purpose of the Maritime New Zealand 40 series of rules is described for New Zealand vessels operating commercially. 2.2 The requirements for products supplied to commercial vessels are explained in accordance with the Maritime New Zealand 40 series rules. Element 3 Identify and describe AS/NZS standards applicable to marine product supply. Performance criteria 3.1 AS/NZS standards applicable to marine product supply are identified and their purposes described. Range at least five standards including NZS 5823. Performance criteria 4.1 The intention of the CPC program is explained in terms of quality of design, construction, and applicability to product supply. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP).
