Classification Construction Trades > Carpentry Theory Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Definitions A construction site operation may form part of an organisation’s activities or it may constitute a complete organisation. Contract documentation refers to plans and drawings, contract drawings, work or product specifications relating to the specified construction site operation. Medium buildings are light to medium weight commercial or industrial buildings up to three levels above ground which utilise commercial or industrial materials, construction techniques, and services. Specifications refer to documented instructions (oral, written, graphic) and may include any of the following: manufacturer’s specifications, recommendations or technical data sheets; material specifications; specifications from a specialist source such as an architect, designer, engineer or a supervisor; site or work-specific requirements. Work site practice refers to the documented procedures specific to a work site which set out the standard and required practices of that work site. 2 Practical elements of this unit standard may be assessed on the basis of evidence of demonstrated performance in the workplace or in simulated work situations designed to draw upon similar performance to that required in a workplace. 3 Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes: Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995; Building Act 2004, Building (Forms) Regulations 2004; Resource Management Act 1991; New Zealand Building Code. Range suspended and frame ceiling systems, sound and fire rated ceilings. Evidence requirements 1.1 Features of proprietary ceiling systems are described in terms of their function. 1.2 Installation of proprietary ceiling systems is described in accordance with contract documentation and manufacturers’ specifications. Outcome 2 Describe the installation procedures for proprietary wall systems in medium buildings. Range sound and fire rated walls. Evidence requirements 2.1 Features of proprietary wall systems are described in terms of their functions. 2.2 Installation of proprietary wall systems is described in accordance with contract documentation and manufacturer’s specifications. Outcome 3 Supervise the installation of proprietary ceiling and wall systems for a medium building. Evidence requirements 3.1 Work activities are planned for the installation of proprietary ceiling and wall systems. 3.2 Preparation of the construction site operation for the installation of proprietary ceiling and wall systems as specified in contract documentation and manufacturers’ specifications is supervised. 3.3 Work methods of site personnel are supervised in accordance with work site practice. Range 3.4 contractors, sub-contractors, employees. Installation methods are in accordance with contract documentation and manufacturers’ specifications.
