CMI is a collaborative response from Australia’s Manufacturing Industries Training Advisory Bodies (ITABs), who are the developers of the CMI Training Package. A memorandum of understanding has been established between FITEC, on behalf of the Competitive Manufacturing Consortium in New Zealand, and MSA. The memorandum of understanding outlines the agreement between FITEC and MSA on moderation in New Zealand, the accreditation of providers in New Zealand, and the provision for participation of the New Zealand industry in the review of this competency standard in the future. Further information relating to accreditation and moderation of this standard is outlined in AMAP 0188. 3 All workplace practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures (where these exceed the code) for personal, product, workplace health, safety, and environmental matters and the obligations required under current legislation, including the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Resource Management Act 1991, and their subsequent amendments. 4 Definition Competitive manufacturing is used to describe a range of systematic manufacturing practice concepts and approaches. It covers but is not limited to: lean manufacturing; agile manufacturing; monitoring and data gathering systems, such as Systems Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), and proprietary systems, such as SAP; statistical process control systems, such as six sigma and three sigma; just in time, kanban, and other pull-related manufacturing control systems; supply, value, and demand chain monitoring and analysis; and other continuous improvement systems. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by the last date for assessment set out below.
