Evidence requirements
1.1 Film thickness measurement is described in terms of method for wet film readings.
1.2 Film thickness measurement is described in terms of method for dry film readings.
1.3 The formula for calculating required dry film thickness before thinning is described in accordance with AS 3894.3.
1.4 The formula for calculating wet-to-dry film thickness after thinning is described in accordance with AS 3894.3.

A wet film thickness gauge is identified and its use is explained in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
1.6 Permanent magnet instruments are identified and their use on steel substrates is explained in accordance with AS 3894.3.
1.7 An electronic gauge is identified and its use is explained in accordance with
AS 3894.3.
1.8 Other instruments for measuring dry film thickness are identified and their methods are described in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

1.9 Calibration of a permanent magnet instrument is described in accordance with
AS 3894.3.
1.10 Calibration of an electronic gauge is described in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
