Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate
knowledge of the rules of the sport, and participation conditions
and format of the game, event, or competition; administer the
clothing and equipment of a sport team; and develop plans to
deal with contingencies.

Explanatory notes
1
Sport teams include both individual and team sports; team members include
competitors, coaches, managers, medical and support personnel. A team may be
comprised of one individual or a group of individuals.

Event refers to a game or an event or a competition.
Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Fulfil the requirements of the rules of the sport, the participation conditions, and the format
of the game, event or competition.
Evidence requirements
1.1
The rules of the sport are identified and explained.
1.2
The participation conditions and the format of the game, event or competition
are identified and explained in terms of the rules of the sport.
Range
participation conditions may include but are not limited to skill,
experience, level of competition, age, individual or team, affiliation
to a club or organisation, entry fee, competitive or social, open,
equipment, gender, provision of an official to referee/umpire;
format of the event may include but is not limited to competition
draw, seeding of participants, schedule of events, knockout, round
robin, timeframe.

1.3
Copies of the rules of the sport and participation conditions are distributed to all
team members.
1.4
The process for representing the team and its members in appeals and disputes
is explained and is in accordance with the rules of the sport and participation
conditions.
Range
appeals and disputes may relate to disciplinary procedures, results
of event, violation of code of conduct for the sport, breach of
participation conditions.
Outcome 2
Administer the clothing and equipment of a sport team.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Team clothing is planned, fitted, and distributed to all team members, and
meets the requirements of the sport club or organisation and the needs of team
members.
2.2
The equipment required is assessed and assembled, and complies with the
rules of the sport and participation conditions.
2.3
Plans are developed and implemented for the care of team clothing and
equipment.
Range
plans may include cleaning clothing, maintenance and storage of
equipment.
2.4
Required equipment is available at playing and practice venues on time.
2.5
Team members are attired in team clothing at all competitive fixtures and official
functions.
Outcome 3
Develop plans to cope with contingencies.
Range
contingencies include cancellations of fixtures, defaults, injuries and illness,
availability of players, disciplinary measures.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Possible contingencies are identified and assessed for their impact on the team.
3.2
Explanation of contingencies identifies their implications for team management.
3.3
Plans are developed and documented to cope with identified contingencies.

an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can

NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and

applies to those standards.
