NZQA registered unit standard 22283 version 2 Page 1 of 3 Title Demonstrate knowledge of occupational areas and structures in the New Zealand infrastructure works industry Level 2 Credits Purpose 2 This unit standard is for people who are at a pre-employment level or who have recently started work in the infrastructure works industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of occupations and sectors associated with, and the structure of, the New Zealand infrastructure works industry. Evidence for this unit standard is confined to the context of New Zealand. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of occupations and sectors associated with the New Zealand infrastructure works industry. Evidence requirements 1.1 Identify and briefly describe the types of work covered by each sector of the New Zealand infrastructure works industry. Range 1.2 sectors – earthworks, roads, pavement surfacing, rural contracting, utilities. Briefly describe the occupations available in the New Zealand infrastructure works industry and pathways to them. Evidence requirements 2.1 Identify the types of clients of the New Zealand infrastructure works industry. two client types for each of the following – private sector, central government, local government. Range 2.2 Describe the nature and scope of the services provided to clients by the New Zealand infrastructure works industry. 2.3 Identify the general functions of New Zealand regulatory bodies and describe their relevance to the infrastructure works industry. regulatory bodies – Department of Labour, NZ Transport Agency, local authorities, one other; three functions for each body. Range 2.4 Identify the general functions of training organisations that are relevant to the New Zealand infrastructure works industry and briefly explain their role. training organisations include but are not limited to – Infrastructure ITO, training providers, infrastructure works companies.
