The qualification is comprised of core elective standards, which recognise the knowledge and skills common to people who operate table games and gaming machines, including: staff supervision skills; and knowledge of legislation which affects the operation of casinos; together with specialist standards which recognise the knowledge and skills specific to each strand. Special Notes Candidates for this qualification will have completed the National Certificate in Casino Gaming (Level 3) [Ref: 0376] or have demonstrated equivalent skills and knowledge. To qualify to work in Casino Gaming, a person must hold a Certificate of Approval, issued by the Department of Internal Affairs. To undertake a number of standards contained in this qualification people must have passed the Ishihara Colour Test, or equivalent, and must meet the minimum age requirements for entry into a casino. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. Changes to structure and content Overall credit total was changed from 52 credits to 50 or 53 credits. Standards in the Gaming Machine strand were made compulsory. Credit requirement for the Table Gaming strand was reduced from 22 to 20 credits. Expiring standards 9881, 9891, 9899, 9904 and 9908 were removed from the qualification. Standards 9872 and 17602 were added to the core elective, and standard 25107 was added to the Table Gaming strand. For detailed information see Review Summaries on the NZQA website. People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 2 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 3. All versions of this qualification will be recognised by ServiceIQ. It is the intention of ServiceIQ that no existing candidate should be disadvantaged by the changes to this qualification. Changes to structure and content included: core compulsory was made the core elective; structure of strands was simplified to a minimum of 22 credits from an elective list; Electronic Gaming strand renamed Gaming Machines; standards 1985 and 4645 removed from the qualification; standard 9911 moved from the strands, and standards 1297, 9696 and 9704 added, to the core elective; standard 1984 replaced by 18336 in the core elective; standard 9893 replaced by 18481 in the Gaming Machines strand, and standards 18479, 18480 and 18482 added to the Gaming Machine strand; overall credit total decreased from 73 or 75, to 52.
