Recommendations from Curriculum Committee
The Curriculum Committee met on November 29, 2010 to consider several proposed course deletions and a
program modification. In summary:
Course Deletions:
Deletion requests came from English, Business, and History and Government. All were deletion requests were
recommended for approval after considerable discussion. Generally the courses submitted for deletion have not
been offered in a long period of time with no plans of future offering. The accompanying table lists the courses
recommended for deletion.
Program Modification:
The Chemistry Program modification request had been considered previously at the October 18 meeting.
Changes had been made to the proposed program based on the October meeting, but there were other concerns
expressed by members of the Curriculum Committee concerning minor revisions. Specifically:






Move the minor requirement for the Chemistry Option concentration to the lower left corner of
the front page and indicate in parentheses that it is only required for Concentration 2.
Indicate somewhere that PSCI 4442 (the capstone course) counts as a CHEM course so it will be
evident that it counts toward the required number of chemistry hours in each option
Change the headings at the top of the second page to be consistent with the option names on the
first page
Indicate in the Chemistry Option that the analytical electives (Part B) can only count either for
Part B or Part C – not both
Drop BIOL 3154 from the Required Courses for the Health Profession Major/Minor option – the
course will not be offered again and will likely be dropped
Change the numbering of BIOL 3094 to BIOL 3093 – its correct course number
If you wish any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
