qualification and unit standards listed above.

Summary
The standards were reviewed and designated category D expiring in September 2007 and
were due to expire in December 2008. Subsequent to the review of the standards, the
National Certificate in Masonry (Bricklaying) with strands in Brick and Block Laying, and
Refractory Installation [Ref: 0454] (in which the standards were listed) was designated
expiring and replaced. The last date for assessment to take place for the replaced
qualification was 31 December 2010. In November 2008 the SSB decided to extend the
expiry date for the standards to December 2010 to align with the qualification expiry date.
Unfortunately, a number of candidates enrolled in this qualification are unable to complete
their training and assessment by this date, and need an extension until December 2011.
The expiry date of the standards, and the last date for assessments to take place for the
replaced qualification, has been extended to 31 December 2011 so that these candidates
can complete the qualification requirements.
