Page 1 of 2 Field Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Revision of Racing Administration unit standard 25849 Subfield Equine Domain Racing Administration ID 25849 The Equine Industry Training Organisation has completed the revision of the unit standards listed above. Date new versions published February 2010 Planned review date December 2014 Summary This unit standard is part of new draft qualifications designed for camera and sound operators in racing broadcasting within the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB). The unit standard was initially developed in 2008 alongside the proposed qualifications in consultation with sound and camera operators as well as other racing board staff, such as Raceday Control, who were identified as potential users. Since the initial development of version 1 of the standard, a pilot on-job assessment training course was undertaken (against the registered standards within the draft qualifications), and concurrently, several business units of the NZRB were restructured with resulting changes to job descriptions. During this time racing terminology also changed. The unit standard was revised as it became apparent during the pilot on-job assessment training course that some of the original content was irrelevant for current racing board staff under the updated job requirements. Some details also became a barrier for completion as racing products changed and the information was no longer relevant or available for delivery of some performance criteria. No further major changes within the NZRB which are likely to affect current registered unit standards are expected in the near future. There are no candidates currently engaged in training for credit for this unit standard. Main changes Performance criteria 2.2 (scheduling of races) was deleted. Performance criteria 3.3 (procedures in the event of injury) was deleted. Element 5 (reasons and procedures for drug testing) was deleted. Reference to a form guide in new element 6 was changed to racebook, and a range was added for types of information. The list of types of betting products in performance criteria 6.2 was reduced as some of the original bet types are no longer available. Credits were reduced from 6 to 4.
