Summary
This unit standard is part of new draft qualifications designed for camera and sound
operators in racing broadcasting within the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB). The unit
standard was initially developed in 2008 alongside the proposed qualifications in
consultation with sound and camera operators as well as other racing board staff, such as
Raceday Control, who were identified as potential users.
Since the initial development of version 1 of the standard, a pilot on-job assessment
training course was undertaken (against the registered standards within the draft
qualifications), and concurrently, several business units of the NZRB were restructured
with resulting changes to job descriptions. During this time racing terminology also
changed.
The unit standard was revised as it became apparent during the pilot on-job assessment
training course that some of the original content was irrelevant for current racing board
staff under the updated job requirements. Some details also became a barrier for
completion as racing products changed and the information was no longer relevant or
available for delivery of some performance criteria.
No further major changes within the NZRB which are likely to affect current registered unit
standards are expected in the near future.
There are no candidates currently engaged in training for credit for this unit standard.
