Careerforce has completed the reinstatement and review of the ten unit standards listed
above.
Date new versions published
September 2012
Planned review date
December 2017
Summary
The standards above were designated expiring by NZQA in 2008 prior to coverage for
Core Health being transferred to Careerforce. To allow time for learners to complete
programmes using the expiring standards, the last date for assessment against the
expiring standards was set at 31 December 2012.
As a result of consultation with stakeholders twelve unit standards were identified as
potentially having on-going usefulness: the ten listed above and unit standards 6420 and
6425. Once the decision was made to reinstate the standards a panel was established to
carry out the review. Consideration was given to reinstating the unit standards 6420 and
6425 but it was decided to write two new, more relevant, standards.
Main changes
 All reinstated standards have a changed classification, changed CMR and changed
SSB contact details.
 A new outcome was added to, and an outcome was removed from, unit standard 12700
to more closely align the outcomes with normality rather than abnormality.
 A new outcome was added to unit standard 12722 to provide a more coherent structure
for this standard.
 The credit value was increased for unit standards 12700, 12722, 12728, 12730 and
12731 to more accurately reflect the time required for learners to complete these
standards.
 Evidence requirements and range statements were amended in several unit standards.
 New unit standards 27885 and 27886 were developed.

Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)
Coverage of the standards listed above has changed from CMR 104 to CMR 24.
Impact on existing qualifications
No Careerforce qualifications are impacted by the outcome of this review.
Impacts on qualifications developed by other SSBs that were indicated in the change
report published at the time the unit standards listed were designated expiring (Core
Health – Review) have been resolved by reviews of those qualifications.
A number of qualifications were identified in that change report as including the expiring
domain Health Studies > Core Health as a source of potential credits. Such qualifications
may need revision before the standards in this domain expire. One solution would be to
replace the domain Health Studies > Core Health with the domain Health, Disability, and
Aged Support > Core Health in qualifications impacted in this way.
