standards listed above.

Summary
These standards were last reviewed in 2008 to align with the New Zealand Curriculum.
They have historically been used to assess practicing teachers for award of the New
Zealand Diploma in Specialist Subjects (Secondary Teacher) Division 2. The qualification
is no longer being awarded so consideration was given to expiring the standards.
However, a review of secondary/tertiary interaction is currently being undertaken by the
Ministry of Education and the outcome of that review may impact upon the use of these
standards. It was, therefore, decided that the standards should be rolled over pending the
outcome of the review.
