Page 1 of 3 Field Māori Review of Te Ao Tūroa unit standards Subfield Ngā Mahi ā te Rēhia Domain Te Ao Tūroa ID 16075-16084 Skills Active Aotearoa Limited has completed the review of the unit standards listed above. Date new versions published September 2011 Planned review date December 2015 Summary of review and consultation process An initial review of these unit standards took place in 2008 by Skills Active Aotearoa Limited and the Te Ao Tūroa Whakaruruhau to address low usage. The review was submitted to NZQA, and feedback from the evaluation led to further consultation with the Whakaruruhau on the issues raised. The review presented a number of challenges, and feedback from the submitted application resulted in further changes that moved the focus of the standards to use in commercial operations. However, those changes did not reflect the original intent of the Whakaruruhau and in 2011 a decision was made to rework the standards to ensure that they reflected the context of te ao tūroa. Membership of the Whakaruruhau changed over the review period; it included kaumatua, leaders of commercial hīkoi, regional te reo trusts, Skills Active Assessors with te ao tūroa scope, the Whanganui River Maori Trust Board and iwi. Standard setting bodies Learning State and NZQA Māori Qualifications Service were also consulted as part of the review. Main changes resulting from the review New standard 26037, Demonstrate knowledge of kaitiakitanga in te ao tūroa, was developed to replace 16082. This was to return the focus to te ao tūroa and kaitiakitanga rather than resource management legislation. The credits of standard 16083 have decreased from 6 to 3 as the focus was moved from compliance to planning. Significant changes have been made to the titles, outcomes and evidence requirements of standards. The unit standard categorised as category C will expire at the end of December 2012 Impact on existing organisations with consent to assess Current consent for Nature of Classification or ID consent Consent extended to Level Nature of Classification or ID consent Level Standard 4 4 16082 Standard 26037 D:\612948694.doc 28/06/2016 Page 2 of 3 Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) The unit standards have been transferred from CMR 0102 to CMR 0099.
