 students can be given the relevant sheets at the beginning of each term if
teachers wish to use them
 students are encouraged to keep a record of their progress by completing a
student record sheet
 these sheets can be kept in the student portfolio
TERM ONE

write about a whānau and explain relationships
select a whānau member and write about them
present a mihi about your whakapapa
speak about yourself
At the end of Term One, you should have completed Tīpako 1,2,3 of
Tuhituhi 7258, Tīpako 1,2,3,4 of Kōrero 7270, Tīpako 1,2,3 of Pānui 7266
and Tīpako 1,2,3,4 of Whakarongo 7262
7258 – 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1
7270 – 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.2

teachers who trialed the unit standards found clearfiles, A4 boxes and Art
envelopes to be most useful for collecting evidence

portfolios should be kept safely by the teacher in secure storage and
students should have access to them

sections of the assessments could be taken home by students to work on

students should be encouraged to manage their portfolios

portfolios are also useful for report evenings with parents and for
moderation visits.
