Course Material The required text for the course: Digital Principal and Design by Givone. 3. Homeworks & Projects There will be 6 HW assignments. You must prepare and submit all the HW assignments. Otherwise you will automatically fail the course. It is recommended to consult with other students on HW assignments, but please prepare and submit your HW assignments by your own. (see next page) The HW assignments are scheduled according to the following table: Homework HW. #1 HW. #2 HW. #3 HW. #4 HW. #5 HW. #6 Given Date Feb. 10th Feb. 24th Mar. 09th Mar. 30th Apr. 13th Apr. 27th Due To Feb. 24th Mar. 09th Mar. 30th Apr. 13th Apr. 27th May. 11th Please turn in all HW assignments to the mailbox of the TA who prepared the assignment. HW’s 1, 4 S.Leventhal ; HW’s 2, 5 A.Haas ; HW’s 3, 6 P.Pari 4. Exams You are expected to take both the midterm and final exams. The midterm exam will be given on Tuesday, Mar. 18th during the lecture hours. The final exam will be given during May 13th-19th 2004. 5. Grading Policy Final grades will be based on the total of points earned on the homeworks, and the exams. The tentative point breakdown is as follows: Homeworks are 24% --- every HW assignment is 4%. The Final Exam is 76%. The midterm Exam will protect 50% of your final exam grade. For calculating your final grade the following formula will be used: Final_Grade = 0.24*Homeworks Grade + 0.76*MAX{ Final_Exam_Grade , 0.5* Final_Exam_Grade + 0.5*Midterm_Exam_Grade } 6. Topics Covered Number Systems, Arithmetic and Codes Boolean Algebra and Combinational Networks Logical Design with MSI Components and Programmable Logic Devices Flip-Flops Synchronous Sequential Networks (see next page) Asynchronous Sequential Networks
