Appendix G: Advising Survey Outcomes
Fall 2013
During their advising sessions for the fall 2013 semester, faculty invited students to
participate in the advising survey. Students were given a questionnaire and asked to turn in
the completed questionnaire to the RTM main office.
Forty-five students completed the questionnaire: 1 freshman, 11 sophomores, 20 juniors, 10
seniors, and 1 graduate. They evaluated the advising provided by 4 faculty members. Eightyseven percent of the respondents made an appointment to meet the faculty advisor. Around
73% had met with the advisor on at least 1 previous occasion; 9 students had met with the
advisor 3 or more times. Most students (73%) took their degree progress report to the
advising meeting.
All 44 students who responded said they would recommend their advisor. All said their
advising was a positive experience and they were satisfied with it.
Students were asked to indicate their agreement with 10 items related to their advising
experience. Each item was rated on a scale of 1 to 5 where 1 represents strongly disagree and
5 strongly agree. The mean of the responses to each item is shown.
