College of Engineering and Computer Science
2009-2010 Scholarship Application Instructions
The College of Engineering and Computer Science is once again offering scholarships to
qualified full time students whose major is in the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Students who have exhibited academic excellence, in addition to strong leadership, are
encouraged to apply. Financial need is not required to apply for most of these funds.
To apply for a scholarship, carefully read and follow the directions below.
1. Complete the attached application fully and accurately and return it to CECS Student
Services Center (Jacaranda Hall 1501) by Friday, February 27, 2009.
2. You must ask two members of the faculty to submit recommendations. Fill in the top
three lines of the recommendation form and have your references complete the rest. The
two people making the recommendations must send the completed form directly to the
College of Engineering and Computer Science Student Services Center, JD 1501.
Please do not send more than two.
3. You must submit a current copy of your transcript and DPR (if undergraduate student)
along with your application. Verify that your student records are complete before
submission of your application. This includes checking your DPR to make sure that all
of your transfer work has been evaluated and recorded. If your records are
incomplete, it is your responsibility to request any missing information from your
previous institution and see that it is either affixed to your scholarship application
or that your DPR has been updated. Incomplete records of applications may
jeopardize your chances of receiving a scholarship.
4. All applications and essays must be typed. Handwritten essays will not be accepted. Do
not underestimate the importance of your essay, and pay particular attention to grammar
as well as content. Your essay will determine your overall qualification to receive a
scholarship.
PLEASE NOTE:
All undergraduate scholarship recipients must carry a minimum of 12 units throughout the Fall
and Spring semesters of the 2009-2010 academic year. Graduate scholarship recipients must
carry a minimum of 6 units during each term of the same academic year. Scholarship recipients
who do not carry the required minimum number of units or who change to a major outside of the
College of Engineering and Computer Science will forfeit their awards.
