Take a Clear, Firm stand
Follow this form
Intro: Attention-getting opener (not a question, not a quotation) Discuss
background info/give transition. End with a thesis statement, firmly
stating your stance + 2 reasons
Body 1 (over 1st reason): Topic sentence focusing on reason 1
Proof, explanation, Proof, explanation
Conclusion sentence tying back to thesis
Body 2 ---repeat Body 1 structure, but over Reason 2
1-2 sentences calling for action or tie back to attention getter in
intro.

Level 2
Level I: Recall
The answer is in the text; explicit, fact (fully and clearly
expressed; leaving nothing implied)
Ex: Cinderella wants to go to the ball.
Level II: Analysis/Inference
Implicit or what is implied; analysis, ask how and why, require
analysis of the text, reading between the lines, hidden meaning.
(understood though not directly expressed)
Cinderella’s stepmother does not want her at the ball because
Cinderella is a servant and too lowly to grace a royal event.
