ACTIONS
Sarah introduced the newest member of the START team, Joey Martinez. Joey is
from Facilities Services. He was brought in to replace Harold Scott who has been
on medical leave.
The ABA Awards page has been redesigned. Previously, it was difficult for users
to navigate to other pages. An archives page was created to contain each years’
award recipients, which helped remove many unnecessary links from the left
navigation. Future years will be easier to add and archive as well.
December’s Leadership Award photos were posted in record time this year,
thanks to quick turnaround from the photographer and Andrew’s website skills.
ABA WEB COORDINATORS MEETING
ABA PLANNING PROCESS – GOALS
STRATEGIES, ACTIONS
The comprehensive ABA website design began with Public Safety’s site. ABA’s
home page will be launched soon, with ABA family sites to be updated in the
new Monet template and an organization that meets campus and ABA
standards and the needs of customers of each family.
Andrew will be setting up a date to meet with the dozen or so Web
Coordinators within ABA. The meeting will address commonly asked questions
from the Web Coordinators, as well as going over best practices and
accessibility issues.
Commonly asked questions include how-to instructions on adding and editing
photos within the WCM, how to best organize and navigate the file structure,
and accessibility standards.
As an ongoing process, the actions that ABA employees suggested in the
department meeting in late 2011 were compiled and presented to the Admin
Council. Admin Council members went over each action to select priorities for
the next year or two.
This coincided with the University President announcing his new initiative,
Redefine the Possible. The ABA Admin Council will continue to look at how our
goals can be aligned with the new initiative.
ABA will be looking at new ways we can go beyond the “status quo” such as
seeking alternative funding solutions for future projects. In addition, an
emphasis will be placed on listening to feedback from ABA employees, where
ideas will be expanded and nurtured.
ABA REPORT OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS A summary of accomplishments from 2010 to 2011 has been completed. This
report has been sent to Reprographics for design and print. It’s expected to
publish late February.
ABA FOCUS NEWSLETTER
The Spring 2012 ABA FOCUS Newsletter is already underway. START Team
members have been active and will continue to be active in reaching out to
their units for information that would be pertinent to the Newsletter.
Some topics include:
-Kathi McCoy’s Retirement
-Katerina’s Employee Spotlight
-Risk Management Services Behind the Scenes
-Get to know your START members
-Re-emphasis on using the Thank You Blog
THANK YOU BLOG
OUTLOOK E-MAIL DISTRIBUTION
LISTS
The expected release for the Spring 2012 Newsletter is mid-March.
More discussion took place about the ABA Thank You blog. It is currently not
being used to its full potential. START members discussed when its use is
applicable, which includes both formal thank-yous, as well as more personal or
simple thank-yous.
The goal is simply to increase use of the function, and to increase the sense of
camaraderie among ABA employees.
This was a project originally initiated by the START team discussions about
outdated e-mail group lists. With IRT’s guidance, there are now complete,
nested, ABA email distribution lists set up by family or unit.
The project was completed in January, although RMS addresses will still need to
be added individually if trying to email all ABA employees.
This project has made it easier to get in contact with large groups of individuals
without fear of leaving out employees. START members can use these lists to
distribute information to their family staff professionals.
