separate sheet of paper. If you choose the latter, please number your responses: 1, 2 and 3.

2. AREAS NEEDING IMPROVEMENT: The following five competencies are linked to student success
in field education. Select two that you need/want to improve. In one or two sentences, explain what you
need to do to improve each competency. Note: The Office of Field Education believes all social
workers need to constantly work on these. Honesty in your answers will not prevent you from entering
field. NOT ANSWERING will delay your field application.


ACTIVE LEARNER: Participates in class discussion
and ask questions when doesn’t understand material.
TIME MANAGEMENT: Has realistic sense of time.
Doesn’t overschedule to point of distraction. Attends
class regularly/promptly.



RECIEVES FEEDBACK: Ability to receive and use
constructive feedback.
MANAGES CONFLICT: Understands that addressing conflict is
an essential skill. Is not afraid of conflict.
SELF-AWARENESS: Recognizes when own biases and values
get in the way of learning and communicating effectively.

that all social workers have such vulnerabilities or “sore spots.” Identifying yours will not prevent you
from entering field.
