E&IT Exceptions Documentation For Section 508 Compliance This document is available in alternate formats upon request: ati@csus.edu Introduction Under California Government Code 11135, Sacramento State must give students, employees and members of the public with disabilities access to electronic and information technology that is comparable to the access available to others. Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (amended 1998) was enacted to eliminate barriers in electronic and information technology, to make available new opportunities for people with disabilities, and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. The IT/ATI Procurement Specialist and/or E&IT Exception Review Committee will evaluate all exception requests regarding procurement of E&IT products and services at Sacramento State. For a complete description of exceptions, please refer to Section 508 Part §1194.3 at http://www.section508.gov. According to CSU Executive Order Number 926, when acquiring information technology, each campus shall acquire products that comply with applicable Section 508 provisions when such products are available in the commercial marketplace. If a campus determines that compliance with any provision of Section 508 is unfeasible, then such exception shall be fully documented and approved by a designee of the president: http://www.calstate.edu/eo/EO926.html. Instructions Complete the E&IT Review Web Form at www.csus.edu/eitreview and fill out the form on the request page as completely as possible. You may attach additional documentation and information. Return completed and signed form to the IT/Procurement Specialist at ati-procurement@csus.edu, IRT Mail Zip 6065. The IT/ATI Procurement Specialist will work with the requestor and E&IT Exception Review Committee to evaluate any exception request and recommendations. If you require assistance in completing this form, please contact ati-procurement@csus.edu. Also include a completed Equally Effective Access Plan (See Alternate access plan template http://www.csus.edu/accessibility/procure.html). The E&IT Exception Review committee will need both the Exceptions and Equally Effective Alternate Access Plan fully documented for the review process. Notes The completion of the Exceptions Request and Equally Effective Access Plan form does not guarantee that the exception will be granted. * Department purchasing product may be responsible for providing alternate access which may include financial accountability.
