Kindergarten Pacing Guide Overview 2012-2013
The Pacing Guide Overview is a quick look at the school year. It provides suggested time frames for each unit
in Math Expressions across the 2012-2013 calendar year. Please refer to the Pacing Guides for each individual
instructional block for detailed information on the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Instructional Notes:
MX 2013: These are lessons from the Math Expressions 2013 Kindergarten Edition that are available on
www.thinkcentral.com. Please look at all activities in each lesson and teach those that are aligned to the
Measurement and Data and Geometry Standards.
The standard of classification should first be taught focusing on categories and sorting in Instructional Block 1.
Counting the number of objects in each category and comparing the numbers in each category (more/less,
most/least, NOT how many more) should be added in Instructional Block 2 after students have further
developed their number sense with numbers 1-10.
