WOMEN'S STUDIES

REQUIRED COURSES
WS 2003
Introduction to Women's Studies
3 ch
Provides an introduction to Women's Studies with an emphasis on perspectives from
the humanities and social sciences. Examines various aspects of women's experiences
and the status of women in Canada and elsewhere.
WS 4004
Seminar in Women's Studies
3 ch
Critically examines the assumptions underlying existing disciplines as they relate to
the study of women and men, and explores new theoretical and methodological
perspectives for studying the gender-based aspects of society. Prerequisite: WS
2003 .
WS 4900
Honours Thesis in Women's Studies
6 ch
Involves directed reading and research leading to an Honours thesis on a topic in
Women's Studies. Women's Studies students will consult with the Coordinator in
finding a suitable topic and thesis supervisor. Prerequisites: WS 2003 and WS 4004 .
