Description of Corrective Action: The IEP Meeting Checklist/Note-Taking Form has already revised as of October 1st, 2012 to include "Social/Emotional/Bullying Issue Discussion" to ensure this discussion takes place at all meetings and the discussion is documented. This discussion and any potential services or supports that may be required to address skills, deficiencies, or vulnerabilities to bullying/ harassment will be written in the "Additional Information" section of every student's IEP. The Special Education Director will share the new note taking form and discuss the procedure changes of ensuring this discussion occurs at all meetings with staff at the faculty meeting on November 13th, 2012. The Special Education Director is the chairperson who will be using the form so no training is required for its use. In addition, on 3/1/2013, an internal review of 5 random student records will be conducted by the Special Education Director to ensure that the language pertaining to the bullying/social emotional discussion is included in all IEPs. The results of the record review will report: the number of records reviewed, the number of records that were compliant, and if any records were not compliant, the reason for the non-compliance and a plan to remedy the problem by May 1st, 2013. Narrative Description of Corrective Action: Bristol County Agricultural High School is implementing the second year of a Literacy Initiative that will include writing activities across all curriculum areas. Each vocational division and academic area will assign and use a school-wide literacy rubric to assess a content specific writing assignment two times during the 2012-2013 school year in order to embed the practice and acquisition of literacy skills in all content areas. The Literacy Team will continue to meet twice a month for training and other activities. An activity that will be occurring this Fall will be the creation of a series of writing prompts that embed a variety of academic skills to be used by the vocational divisions when they assign writing assignments for the initiative. In addition, revision of all vocational frameworks include examples of embedded academic exercises, and these will be part of all vocational instruction to begin in 2013. Teacher sign in sheets will be used to track compliance. A Literacy Initiative Calendar will be used to outline the implementation plan and create a timeline for the assigning of each writing piece per vocational and academic area. The implementation will be tracked via this calendar. Samples of the assignments will be reviewed at Literacy Team meetings to track completion and monitor growth of students’ writing skills. The district’s applicant acceptance letter includes enrollment criteria which contradicts the approved admission policy. Also, the current admission application form is not in compliance. Narrative Description of Corrective Action: Bristol County Agricultural High School’s application for admission and acceptance letter has been revised with guidance from the DESE Chapter 74 manual. The district policy whereby failing students are required to pass and equivalent summer school course or re-apply to the school to repeat the year will be revisited. A credit recovery option will be discussed. Any policy changes will be brought to the Board of Trustees and the School Council and will be reflected in the school handbook for the 2013-2014 school year.
