Suggested date/s and times for the qualifying examination, which follows an accepted, and approved proposal presentation to the GAU:

The Director of Graduate Studies (DoGS) will send a formal invitation to all potential examiners, please provide a list of names, with correct email addresses. There should be at least four subject areas; one being related directly to research and the other subjects should cover less closely related but still relevant areas. The Qualifying Examining Committee
(QEC) will consist of at least four members, each having a related disciplinary subject area, which will suitably represent the type of background most appropriate to the student’s intended field of research. Recommended members should be from the following categories: GAU members of the FOREM, GAU members from other Faculties at UNB, other members of the scientific community – where necessary to achieve a suitable disciplinary balance. No more than one member of the Advisory Committee may serve on the QEC. Once the four areas are decided on, the Supervisor should ensure that the student has an adequate opportunity to discuss the topic(s) to be examined with each examiner, to find out the general extent of coverage expected, and to receive suggestions for preparatory reading and study. The
DoGS will chair the exam.
