Student Fees may be charged to curriculum and continuing education students in accordance with State Board
Code 1E SBCC 200.98 and Student Fee limits established by the State Board of Community Colleges. Such fees will be set, on an annual basis, by the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees authorizes the President to make adjustments to these fees, on an interim basis, if such adjustment is required during the year.
Each fee will be deposited into a special account to be administered by the College Business Office.
(1) Specific Fees – Fees charged to students for items required for individual courses or programs that are considered to be in addition to normal supplies and materials the college provides for students such as tools, uniforms, insurance, and certification fees.
Specific fees may be charged for an amount up to $300 per course. These fees will be deposited in a local institution fund account. They will be used for the purpose for which they were charged and collected, including certification fees, texts, insurance, tools, etc. as well as other consumables expended in the instructional process. Any fee over $300 will have to have specific approval by the Board of Trustees. The
President will be authorized to approve all fees under $300 and will make an annual report to the Board of
Trustees of fees that were charged.
Student Accident Insurance – The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of a Student Accident Fee as described in the Student Chart of Fees.
Malpractice Insurance – For curriculum students: The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of an annual fee for malpractice insurance for students enrolled in certain classes in the Cosmetology program and all health sciences programs as described in the Student Chart of Fees.
For continuing education students: The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of an annual fee for malpractice as described in the Student Chart of Fees for students enrolled in the following classes:
Certified Nursing Assistant (NUR 3240 and 3241)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMS 3025, 3031, 3044 and 3045)
Massage Therapist (HEA 3021)
Phlebotomy Education and Clinical Experience (MLA 3022)

(2) Student Activity Fee – A fee charged to students to support student activities.
The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of a Student Activity Fee as described in the Student Chart of
Fees. No student will be charged more than $65.00 per year.
A budget for use of the student activity fees will be prepared and administered by the Dean of Students.
(3) Computer Use and Technology Fee – These fees are to be used to support the procurement, operation, and repair of computers and other technology, including supplies and materials that accompany use of the technology. This permits the purchasing of computers and other technology, hiring of support positions to operate and maintain this technology, and buying the necessary supplies and materials for operations.
Fees are set annually by the local Board of Trustees and reported to the State Board of Community Colleges on the same basis. The fee can be established in any amount and on any basis (per cerdit hour or per semester), but shall not exceed the State Board’s established maximum of $16 per semester for curriculum students.
The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of a Computer Use and Technology Fee as described in the
Student Chart of Fees for all curriculum students, with the exception of Huskins Bill students, Dual Enrollment students and inmates.
(4) Parking Fee – A fee charged to students for use of the college’s parking facilities.
The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of a parking and security fee as described in the Student Chart of Fees for curriculum students. This fee is not to be charged to Continuing Education, Basic Skills, or fee exempt students.
(5) Administrative Fee – A fee charged to students to cover various administrative costs. The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of an Administrative Fee as described in the Student Chart of Fees
(6) Health Sciences Program Fees – The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of a Photocopy fee and lab fee each semester for students enrolled in Health Sciences Programs. The photocopy fee and lab fee are used to pay for the use of laboratory equipment and supplies used by students in the practical application of knowledge gained in the Health Sciences Programs. Students enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science in Medical
Assisting are exempt from the fees.
(7) Placement Retest Fee – The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of a retest fee for students who choose to retake the Placement Test in accordance with MCC Policy 1.022, Paragraph 4. If the student chooses to retest outside the conditions outlined above, the charge shall be as described in the Student Chart of Fees.
(8) Work Keys Fee – The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of Work Keys Fee as described in the
Student Chart of Fees for students who choose to take the Work Keys tests.
(9) Transcript Fee – A fee charged to students and alumni for the printing and disbursement of transcripts. The
Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of a Transcript Fee as described in the Student Chart of Fees.

(10) International Student Fee – The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of an International Student Fee as described in the Student Chart of Fees. International students will incur this fee in addition to the other fees set by the Board of Trustees as deemed appropriate dependent upon program or course of study.
(11) Ammunition Fee – The Board of Trustees authorizes the collection of an ammunition fee as described in the Student Chart of Fees for students enrolled in BLET. Fees are collected to pay for the use of artillery by students in the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program.
(12) For curriculum students: The Board of Trustee authorizes the collection of an art fee as described in the
Student Chart of Fees for students enrolled in the following classes:
