What are the “Homerow Keys” Vocabulary Literacy/Numeracy Strategies Projects/Assessments Create a pneumonic for the keyboard rows of letters in Alice. 1.01 Keyboarding Skills Learn and Execute the touch method in operating the Alphabetic Keys Lesson Plan Monday: Intro to Alice/Teacher Powerpoint Students will learn the Parts of Alice What is the World? What are the objects? What are Methods? What are events? What are Properties? What are Functions? What are parameters? What are variables? Explain what a Pneumonic is. Tuesday: Hand out earbuds/headphones and handouts given describing how each Method operates. Students create first world with teacher lead. Lesson – World includes Background, Objects, Methods (commands), and (sigh)…yes sound. (25 minutes for students to discover the different methods and ask questions as teacher circulates to help students) Wednesday: Students complete and preview each others worlds and class critique. Thursday: Independent Practice: Students work on teacher’s pneumonic (demonstrate via teacher’s pneumonic) Friday: Students set up pneumonic world using rows 1, 2, 3 in keyboard Closure/Review: End Week of Intro to Alice, Classroom viewing of Pneumonic Alice World. Survey: Interest Level in using Alice as a learning tool. . Imbedded Reading Imbedded Literacy Students will write a pneumonic (Using 1st, 2nd &d 3rd Row Keys) using Alice (Software) in conjunction with a Rubric and Teacher instruction.
