Lesson Plan Into to Alice (billboards) Subject: Computer Grade: Fourth Teacher: Kit Abney Topic: Intro to Alice Date: 07/24/2015 NC Standard Course of Study Essential Standard: 4.TT.1 Use technology tools and skills to reinforce classroom concepts and activities. NC Standard Course of Study Clarifying Objective: 4.TT.3 Use technology tools to present data and information (multimedia, audio and visual recording, online collaboration tools, etc.) Teacher will facilitate and then let students do steps together with teacher. Students that gain skill set of Alice in order to accomplish task. Activity I. Focus and Review (Establish prior knowledge) Description of Activities and Setting Review Alice Materials and Time 20 minutes II. Statement (Inform student of objectives) Tell students they will be introduced to Alice program to learn how to import a billboard for second activity. III. Teacher Input (Present tasks, information, and guidance) Rubrics given out and discussed Demonstrates camera angles, placing objects in world, and some movement of objects. IV. Guided Practice (Elicit performance, provide assessment and feedback) Teacher demonstrates how to save pictures from the Internet and import billboards. Students then follow along and do. Teacher demonstrates Alice interface and demonstrates how to 5 minutes 20 minutes 30 minutes make billboards. Students then follow along and do. Teacher demonstrates necessary Alice essentials and students follow along. V. Independent Practice -- Seatwork and Homework (Retention and transfer) Students continue to complete project. VI. Closure (Plan for maintenance) Section IV and V repeated for at least 2 weeks until project is 45-90 minutes done. Introduce/demonstrate new concepts as being used. Closure – students show their projects. 15 minutes
