INSTRUCTIONS & CONDITIONS
Please carefully read these instructions & conditions before completing the attached application form.
Introduction & eligibility:
The Overseas SEP Loan is available to NUS Exchange Students up to a maximum of $3,000 per semester and subject to the family's monthly per capita income. It is interest free for the full duration of the loan (inclusive of the repayment period). A summary of this loan is also given in the Financial Aid Directory at http://www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/info/financialaid/loans.html.
Only undergraduate students under the Modular System and selected to proceed on the student exchange programmes [SEP] at an overseas Partner University for 1 or 2 semesters may apply.
Application Form: Complete all items on the computer-write enabled form
(use the ‘tab’, ‘cursor’ or ‘mouse’ to move to the next item) and then print this form. Alternatively, print this form and write in BLOCK
LETTERS.
All items in the Application Form must be completed. If any item is not applicable please write
"NA" (do not leave any item blank) .
The student must sign and date the Application Form otherwise the application will be considered incomplete.
Supporting
Documents:
The Application Form must be accompanied by supporting documents showing the income/salary of each working family members (e.g. IRAS notice of assessment, pay-slip, employer’s letter, etc.) or an explanation, on a separate sheet, on how the family survives without any income.
Submission:
Supporting documents that are not in English must be accompanied by a translation into English.
The student’s name and matriculation number must be written on the top-right hand corner of the respective supporting document.
The student must submit the supporting document/s otherwise the application will be considered incomplete.
Ideally, the application should be submitted before a student proceeds overseas. The
Application Form and supporting document/s must be submitted for endorsement to the respective Dean

There is no due date, as applications are processed on a fortnightly-basis.
The student must have a guarantor, who should fulfill the following criteria:
(i) a Singapore citizen or permanent resident of at least 21 years of age and not a bankrupt; and
(ii) formally employed and not a party to another loan agreement.

A NUS student may only act as a guarantor if all the criteria in (i) is fulfilled and the student is not receiving a tuition fee loan, CPF loan or Public Service Commission scholarship/bursary.
The successful applicant and the guarantor must sign a loan agreement at the Office of Finance.
Alternative arrangements may be made with the Office of Finance, however, any additional costs must be borne by the successful applicant.
