Purpose:
Building upon Central New Mexico Community College’s (CNM) commitment to sustainability— in
academics, in architecture, in the use and reuse of resources and in its relations with the community, the
College is providing funds to support partnerships between faculty and facilities for integrating
sustainability into curricula.
Key Definitions:
Sustainability meets the social, economic, and environmental needs of the present without compromising
the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainability curriculum gives students the
tools they need to address issues of energy production, environmental health, economic development,

The Campus as a Living Lab merges academics and campus facilities management to provide students
with real-world skills and, for the institution, a path to meet its sustainability goals.
