CNM Human Resources is providing the opportunity for
employees to learn more about the new Employee
Assistance Program (EAP) provider and their services.
Representatives from Deer Oaks EAP will be visiting
CNM sites to provide more details on the services they
provide and how to access the services.
The E, TC, W, SSC, N, P, K, and J buildings on the Main
and Montoya campuses are receiving fire alarm upgrades
as part of the 8 Building Fire Alarm project.
A new era is about to be unveiled for CNM’s Theatre
Department. A new state-of-the-art theatre scheduled to
open for the Fall Term will set the stage for the debut of
CNM’s Associate of Arts Degree in Theatre. Read more.
CNM’s STEMulus Center, scheduled to open Sept. 5, has
a new website that embodies the bold new educational
approach the center is taking to educate tomorrow’s
workforce.
A valuable tool to help students find open computer labs
is just a click away. It’s Labmaps, a web page
(labmaps.cnm.edu) which shows maps of each of CNM’s
open computer labs and where they can find an available
computer. Students can pull up this link not only on a lab
or home computer but on their smartphone or tablet.
Labmaps is also displayed on a screen at the entrance of
SRC203.
All CNM faculty and students will have free access to
Blackboard Mobile Learn to connect you to your CNM
courses that use CNM Learn. The app can be
downloaded at the iPhone App Store or Google Play.
Mobile-Learn.aspxt) Once you've downloaded the app,
search for Central New Mexico Community College.
Enter your CNM username and password, and you can
view course discussion, grades, blogs, journals, tests,
tasks, content and roster.
If CNM campuses seemed busier this summer than usual,
it may have been the 2,029 new students visiting for New
Student Orientation. This was the first year that in-person
orientations were offered on a large scale. Read more.
The CNM Governing Board recently approved some
changes to CNM policies and procedures, which included
changes to the Equal Opportunity Policy, Education
Benefits and the policy for Reporting Observed,
Suspected, or Apparent Misconduct. Read more.
The College of Communication, Humanities & Social
Sciences will host a “Major Mixer” for students from 3 to
6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 at Main Campus in the
breezeway of the Student Resource Center.

The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of
2013, an amendment to the Jeanne Clery Act, mandates
Title IX training for all higher education employees. In
response to this mandate, you will receive emails from
“Workplace Answers” providing you access to the
training titled Preventing Discrimination and Sexual
Violence for Faculty and Staff. The intent of the
amendment and training requirement is to help bolster
the response to and prevention of sexual violence in
higher education. Watch for these emails and follow the
instructions. The first email will be sent today, with
reminders every two weeks until the training is
completed. Please note, registration for this course is not
required. Supervisors please use the revised Mandatory
Tracking form accessible from the bottom of the
Employee Training website for new hires.
The college is required to make best efforts encouraging
students to complete the training.
The training will be embedded on the Welcome page in
myCNM , in the Safety and Security channel and will be
sent to students via Sun Cat Times beginning the week of
September 22nd.

skills, test taking and note taking. They are accessible to
students from any Internet connection by going
www.cnm.edu/kickstart. For more information, email
