The conference planning team is looking for dynamic, high-quality conference session proposals focusing on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in the following categories: best practices in instruction, classroom assessment, instructional technology, distance learning, classroom management and other related topics. The proposal form also provides for poster submissions and requesting a resource table for your group or department. The deadline to submit a proposal is Friday, Oct. 17. For more information about the new Coal Avenue Theatre, click here Wireless outside SRC Ken Cole Fall 2014 CNM wireless access has been extended to the north side of the Student Resource Center (between SRC and JS buildings). While wireless is often available near our campus buildings, this is the first installation of outdoor antennas to cover large areas of space where students and staff routinely commute between classes. More outdoor wireless is planned for the remodeled A Building courtyard and between the Student Services Center and Max Salazar Hall in the near future. New Westside Campus Entrance/Exit Open STEM UP to Launch New Phone App for Students Luis Campos Fall 2014 Westside Campus has a new entrance/exit. It’s located at the corner of Universe Blvd. and McMahon Blvd. If you have questions call the Westside Connect Center at 2245360. STEM Up is launching a new phone App that will help STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) students track their progress toward a degree and transfer to a University of New Mexico STEM program. The App will be rolled out on Sept. 25 from 9-11 a.m. at the new CNM STEM UP Center, located in the Student Services Center, Room 102. The new CNM STEM UP Center provides a welcoming place where STEM students can connect with each other for studying, social activities and support. The UNM STEM UP Transfer Center provides students with individualized assistance with the UNM application process and connects students interested in transferring to UNM with UNM STEM advisors and faculty. You likely have already received emails from “Workplace Answers” with “Course Registration” in the subject line providing you access to the training titled “Preventing Discrimination and Sexual Violence for Faculty and Staff.” The intent of the amendment and training requirement is to help bolster the response to and prevention of sexual violence in higher education. You must take this training, so open the emails from “Workplace Answers” and follow the instructions. Reminders will be emailed every two weeks. CNM’s 2014 Fall Graduation Ceremony will be held Saturday, Dec. 6 at Tingley Coliseum. All faculty and staff are encouraged to show their support for graduates by participating and wearing regalia. Kat Flies, CNM’s new Presidential Fellow for Instructional Technology, will spend the next year exploring new ways to make the teaching and learning experience at CNM more technology-rich. For close to 20 years, CNM anatomy and physiology students have learned about the human body from cadavers provided to CNM by the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Beginning Oct. 6, employees will be able to change their benefit options online during the annual Open/Switch Enrollment period for health benefits and flexible spending accounts. The Open/Switch Enrollment period runs from Oct. 6 to Nov. 14. You must re-enroll in the flexible spending account to continue it for the year ahead.
