Faculty/Staff International Professional Development Program
Office of International Affairs
As part of its commitment to promoting cultural awareness, the Office of International Affairs (in partnership
with the Office of Academic Affairs) offers Faculty/Staff International Professional Development Programs.
These opportunities are designed to provide Longwood employees with academically engaged international
experiences—similar to what students encounter while studying abroad.

Full-time faculty/staff returning to the university the following fall are eligible to participate.
Completed applications must be signed by department chairs or supervisors and submitted by the deadline.
Participants must meet all requirements (includes including attending pre-departure seminars and a risk
session, doing reading and attending presentations while in the foreign country, and engaging in follow-up
activities such as presentations/scholarly articles/classroom unit upon return).
The first $350 is nonrefundable and is due upon acceptance into the program.
If a participant withdraws from the program, he or she must reimburse the university for expenditures (airline
tickets, deposits for hotels, excursions, tour operators, etc.). Additional monies might be withheld to prevent
an increase in price for others.
See http://www.longwood.edu/internationalaffairs/62390.htm for details about program learning
objectives, itinerary, and costs.
