As I mentioned in the last email, I am sending you information about immunization records, housing, class registration and how to make payments. Please let me know if you have any questions! 1. Housing: All international students at Longwood University are housed in comfortable Residence Halls that are located on campus. All Residence Halls (http://www.longwood.edu/rcl/12336.htm) are within a short walk of where your classes will be held. Also, all international students will have an American student roommate. Having an American student as a roommate can help introduce you to the social life at an American university and can also help to improve your English language skills if you are not a native English speaker. Once your room assignment has been completed, you will be notified. 2. Bedding- Residence Halls at Longwood do not come with bedding supplies. There is a small number of donated bed linens, but these cannot be guaranteed to you. The beds in all the Longwood on-campus residence halls are made for extra-long (XL) twin sheets. If you will living in an on-campus residence hall you must provide these for yourself. You may buy them while shopping in the town on the night you arrive, or you may purchase bedding online and have it shipped to the address provided below. Meal Plans: All students living at an on-campus Residence Hall at Longwood University must select a meal plan. Meal plans provide meals for you to eat at the Dining Hall (http://www.campusdish.com/en-us/CSMA/Longwood) on campus. The Dining Hall has a wide variety of delicious foods to choose from and most Longwood University students eat there every day of the week. Please note that the chart shows the COMBINED cost of a meal plan and your housing which will be a Main Campus, Double Room. The cost of just the meal plan can is listed at the top of the chart. Bonus Dollars are money that is loaded onto your Student Identification card and can be used as credit card at some cafes located around the campus. You may add more money (called Lancer cash) onto your student identification card later if you wish to pay for a variety of services on campus and in the town of Farmville. YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ATTACHED FORM AND RETURN IT TO ME BY JUNE 25, 2012. IF I DO NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM YOU BY THEN, YOU WILL BE ISSUED THE DEFAULT 14 MEAL PLAN. 4. International Student Buddy Program: There are many Longwood students that want to meet you help immerse you into life at an American university! The Office of International Affairs will match you up with an “International Student Buddy.” PLEASE COMPLETE THE ATTACHED INTERNATIONAL STUDENT BUDDY PROGRAM SURVEY FORM AND RETURN IT TO ME BY JUNE 25. 5. Immunization Record: All Longwood University students are required to present an up to date immunization record completed by a doctor or health care provider before or upon arrival. Class Registration: Your class schedule is attached. If you have any questions or want to make changes to your class schedule, please let me know immediately. 7. Payments: Longwood University will accept cashier’s checks and money orders in US dollars, as well as MasterCard, Discover and American Express, but does not accept Visa or bank draft as a method of payment for housing costs, meal plans, etc. If you plan to use a credit card, please be advised that there will be an additional 2.7% charge. Payment information is outlined in more detail below: 1. Western Union: Students may “wire” funds to themselves, and may (personally) pick up their payments upon arrival to Farmville. Online Credit Card Payments: Students may log into myLongwood / My Student Account to access our “TouchNet / PayPath” online bill and payment system. Note: Students paying by credit card will be charged a non-refundable payment service fee of 2.75%.
