The University of Akron is pleased to extend you an offer of employment, subject to
approval by the University’s Board of Trustees, as [insert position title], beginning [insert

You are entitled to enroll in the University’s Group Insurance Program. Your benefit
coverage will be effective on the first day of the month following the date of hire. A
representative from Human Resources Benefits Administration will contact you to

Non-administrative faculty at The University of Akron are represented by the AAUP-Akron
Chapter. By operation of the parties’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable
statutory law, the University is obligated to deduct fair share fees from the payroll checks
of bargaining unit members who are not members of AAUP-Akron. Ohio Revised Code
§4117.09(C) provides: “The deduction of a fair share fee by the public employer from the
payroll check of the employee and its payment to the employee organization is
automatic and does not require the written authorization of the employee.” Fair share
fee deductions will commence starting with the [insert date] payroll period. If you decide
to become a member of AAUP-Akron Chapter, the agreement provides that chapter dues
will be deducted from the member’s pay.
The State of Ohio has enacted legislation to deter and prosecute acts of terrorism within
the state. Under this legislation, all applicants under final consideration for employment
by the state, any instrumentality of the state, or political subdivision of the state must
complete and submit a questionnaire titled Declaration Regarding Material
Assistance/Nonassistance to a Terrorist Organization (DMA). The attached DMA
questionnaire must be completed and returned to the Search Chair on or before your

All University of Akron employees whose duties include some involvement with The
University of Akron’s intercollegiate athletics program are required to comply with all
relevant NCAA Bylaws in performing their work.
The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires all employers to verify the
employment eligibility and identity of all new employees. Enclosed is a Form I-9 and
