Guidelines
Aim
National Wine & Grape Industry Centre Summer Scholarships are designed to encourage undergraduate
students to engage in research activity. It also enables students to become familiar with the types of
projects and potential supervisors available through the National Wine & Grape Industry Centre.
Value
$4, 000 tax-free stipends (paid at the rate of $400 per week for 10 weeks)
Eligibility
Students enrolled in a full-time, undergraduate degree course at CSU who are nearing completion of their
degree and have achieved a high academic standard are eligible to apply. The anticipated standard is a
Grade Point Average over the precious two years of approximately 5.00 points or a standard sufficient to
allow entry into the University’s Honours Program (http://www.csw.edu.au/study/honours/). Students who
have already commenced an Honours degree are ineligible to apply.
Stage of Completion
Only students who are nearing completion of their undergraduate degree will be considered for example,
2nd or 3rd year Bachelor of Agricultural Science or Bachelor of Veterinary Science, 3 rd or 4th Year.
Member Consultation
It is strongly recommended that applicants discuss their research interests and potential projects with one
or more National Wine & Grape Industry Centre members prior to submitting their application. A list of

to consult, please contact either the appropriate Research Pathway Leader for the area in which you are
interest or email nwgic@csu.edu.au.
Selection Criteria




A strong interest in and commitment to research related to the Centre’s Research Priorities
Current full-time enrolment in an undergraduate degree course at CSU.
Proven ability to achieve a high academic standard
A demonstrated interest in undertaking an Honours project supervised by a National Wine & Grape
Industry Centre member
How the scheme works
Students spend a period of ten weeks working on a single project supervised by a National Wine & Grape
Industry Centre member. The structure can be negotiated with the project supervisor. NB: Supervisors are
required to provide a report to the Centre Director at the end of the scholarship.
