“History teaches everything including the future.”- Lamartine

Welcome to Global Studies I !! You may ask yourself this question, “Why do I need to take Global

Studies?” In order to understand the future, we need to understand the past. Take your own lives for example, you are who you are based upon your past experiences. The world today is no different. So be prepared to work with me in making this an enjoyable, productive class!

Global I covers from the beginning of time through the Enlightenment. The following are themes that will be covered over the course of the school year:

1) Political

2) Ecological

3) Geographic

4) Economic

5) Social

The grading policy:

Homework- 2 pts apiece

Class participation/Do Now- 15 pts

Quizzes- 50 pts

Tests- 100 pts

Projects- 100 pts

At the end of each quarter, the total number of possible points will be added up, then divided by the number of points earned by each student.

Example: John earns 350 points for the first quarter. The possible number of points he could have earned was 500. Therefore, 350 would be divided by 500. John’s grade is 70%. (350/500=.70000 X’s

100=70.00%)
