The two different types of guitars are electric, and acoustical. There are many differences between the two, but the main difference is that with an electric, the guitar must be plugged for it to be heard. With an acoustical the sound produced can be heard without being plugged in. The advantage to having a guitar that plugs in is that the sound can be changed with the turn of a knob on an amp. The sound on an acoustical guitar is produced by the shape and quality of the workmanship of the instrument. This makes it so that the sound can’t be changed. Having to plug the instrument in is an important part of which guitar to buy but the strings also make a big difference in the playability of the instrument. The strings on an electric guitar are generally lighter than on an acoustic. Lighter strings are easier to play because they are easier to push and are more flexible. The heavier strings on an acoustic guitar usually hurt your fingers after extended play. The lighter strings also make bending the strings to produce certain notes easier, this is a harder task with heavier strings.
