RESUME
Dr. Chandrava Chakravarty
Associate Professor & Head of the Department of English
Department of English, West Bengal State University

Dr Chakravarty was awarded doctoral degree on the study of gender-culture interface in Eighteenth
century British literature. She has obtained the Charles Wallace IndiaTrust Scholarship from UK for
undertaking her doctoral research. Her areas of research interest are British Literature of the Long
Eighteenth Century, Colonial Bengal, Gender & Culture Studies, Bollywood and Popular Culture. As
post-doctoral pursuits she is engaged in studying the connections between gender construction, identity
and nation-building in various kinds of texts. Currently four research scholars, pursuing Ph.D, are
working under Dr. Chakravarty’s supervision.
