Required Materials
 Textbook: Calculus: Graphical, Analytical, Numerical by Pearson Prentice Hall
 Graphing Calculator (TI-84, TI-84 Silver Edition)
 Notebook and Graph Paper
 2 spiral notebooks or composition books
 Tools: ruler, compass, protractor
 Pencils and erasers
 You may wish to bring: colored pencils, stapler, hole punch.
Expectations
1) Be respectful.
2) Be on time and be prepared. Bring all materials to class.
3) Approach mathematics with an open mind.
4) Follow all school rules. The bell does not dismiss the class.
Grading
 You will be graded on a variety of assignments including: participation, assignments, notes, projects,
quizzes and tests. All categories will be given a percentage (not a set number of points), which will be
factored into overall grades according to the following scale:

 If you have questions regarding your grade at any point during the semester, you may consult me after
school. Grades will not be discussed during class time.
 Grades will be updated on a weekly basis. In accordance with The Handbook, Semester grades are
calculated in the following way: 40% (1𝑠𝑡 𝑞𝑢𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑒𝑟) + 40% (2𝑛𝑑 𝑞𝑢𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑒𝑟) + 20% (𝐹𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐸𝑥𝑎𝑚) =

100%+=A+
99-92%=A
91-90%=A-
89-88%=B+
87-82%=B
81-80%=B-
79-78%=C+
77-72%=C
71-70%=C59 and below=F
69-68%=D+
67-62%=D
61-60%=D-
Assignments/Notes
 Exercises will be given on a regular basis (you will likely have homework every time class meets). You
must attempt every problem assigned in order to receive credit.
 Late homework assignments will not be accepted.


Assignments must be well organized and completed in pencil only and must include your name, the
date assigned, your period number, and the assignment name. If the question requires a graph, it
better be on graph paper! (printfreegraphpaper.com is a great option if you run out).
You will be given an assignment sheet, which you will use to keep track of and grade your homework.
We will begin each class with a random assignment check, which will be logged on this assignment
sheet. It should also be consulted when absent. It will be turned in before every test.
Participation
 Notes will be taken in one spiral notebook and homework will be completed in the other. The
notebooks will be collected at regular intervals. All assignments and notes should be kept for the
duration of the class.
 Warm Ups, written in your notebook, will also be assigned to this category and will be collected before
each test.
Quizzes and Tests
 Quizzes, based on homework assignments, will be given at least once per chapter.
 Tests will be given upon completion of each chapter or partial chapter. They will be announced in class
a few days prior to the test date.
 Quizzes and tests must be made up within 3 days of an absence (but only if excused).
You are encouraged to ask questions during class and I am available almost every day after school for
additional tutoring; please seek help before you become overwhelmed!
Additional resources include: the textbook and accompanying website, khanacademy.org and your fellow
classmates.
