include timeframes if the program extends longer that the MPH year):
2. What are the specific public health skills and competencies (such as analytical/assessment,
communication, program planning/policy development, cultural competency, community
dimensions of practice, public health sciences, financial management and planning, leadership &
systems thinking) that are developed and applied in the practicum component of the program?
3. How does the practicum component of the Certificate program link back to students’ learning and
career development? (include any descriptions of additional educational modules, experiences,
activities)
4. How does the student identify a practicum? (Is there someone who helps the student identify a
practicum, or does the student identify the project on their own?)
5. If the student identifies their own practicum, are there additional resources for the student to help
identify a practicum?
6. In what types of outside organization(s) do students apply these skills and competencies?
7. Who is the preceptor for the students?
8. How are the students’ practicum activities evaluated?

average) over the course of the entire practicum component of the Certificate program for each

Time spent organizing and preparing for their practicum experience (i.e., exercises or
activities to prepare for working with the organization, etc.)
Direct face-to-face time at the partner organization (i.e., meetings with partner

final project write-up, etc.)
Reflecting and analyzing their practicum experience - academic work that is
