Final Draft Grading Rubric Directions: The final draft should consist of 6 paragraphs: introduction (with a strong thesis as the last sentence of the introductory paragraph), background information, three body paragraphs defending the reasons for taking your position in your thesis statement, and a conclusion. Please remember that paragraphs in this class are 5-7 sentences long. The final draft can be typed or hand written and is due 10/20 for a test/major grade. Thesis Statement Does the Thesis statement follow the formula (Issue+position=3 reasons why)? Comments Do the 3 reasons why make sense? Does the author use good vocabulary appropriate for high school? Topic Sentences in the body paragraphs How can the author make the statement sound better? Does each body paragraph have an opening sentence describing what the paragraph is discussing? Does the topic sentence sound like a college level sentence or is it too elementary? Comments Citation Does the author cite where the information is coming from? Comments Good Vocabulary/Grammar Does the spelling, vocabulary and grammar look college level sentence or is it too elementary? Comments Organization Is the essay probably organized into Intro paragraph, background information, 3 bodies (reasons why) and a conclusion? Comments Does the author stay on task or get lost? Any additional words of advice?
