 Read and annotate “Notes of a Native Son” by James Baldwin (posted on Edmodo)
 AP Questions
 Review Persuasive Essay prompt: “Most countries have an official language, yet the United States
does not. Write an essay in which you defend or oppose a national proposition to make English
the official language of the United States.”
Materials: Handouts, highlighter, post-its, pen, pencil
Homework: AP Questions due Friday. Persuasive Essay due tomorrow. The Joy Luck Club Quiz –
3/7. Section II of Joy Luck Club study questions due 3/7
Tuesday – 3/4
Objective: Students will be able to write an argumentative essay to the appropriate audience that
includes a clear thesis or position based on logical reasons supported by precise and relevant
evidence, including facts, expert opinions, quotations, and expressions of commonly accepted beliefs
(ELA.10.16A)
