Monday
What are we learning?
Daily Objective: We will simplify monomials by applying the power of polynomials rule.
TEKS/AP/Standards: ALG1.3A, ALG1.4A, ALG1.11A
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities: Introduction to the Power of Polynomials Rule.
Guided practice on how to apply the rule when simplifying expressions followed by
independent practice.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Teacher will walk around checking work and answering questions.
Checks for Understanding: Answers to practice
What do I need to be successful?
Materials: Problem Sets
What do I need to before next class?
Follow Up/HW: Complete handout problems, even numbers and first three geometric
applications
Tuesday
What are we learning?
Daily Objective: We will simplify polynomials by applying the power of polynomials rule,
product rule and adding/subtracting monomials
TEKS/AP/Standards: ALG1.3A, ALG1.4A, ALG1.11A
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities: Students will get in groups of 2 to 4 and continue with practice. They
are to compare answers and defend their answers if different from their group members.
We will review the geometric applications from the previous lesson and practice additional
problems again in their groups.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Teacher will walk around checking on answers and discussions
Checks for Understanding: Answers to problems
What do I need to be successful?
Materials: Handouts
What do I need to before next class?
Follow Up/HW: Complete all problems in handout.
Wed/Thur
What are we learning?
Daily Objective: Students will be able to simplify polynomials by applying the quotient rule
of exponents.
TEKS/AP/Standards: ALG1.3A, ALG1.4A, ALG1.11A
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities: Polynomials guided notes on the quotient rule and how to apply it to
simplify expressions. Pair up and continue with independent practice. Teacher will
intervene sporadically and have students share their responses.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Teacher will cold call on students to give answers to practice
problems.
Checks for Understanding: Exit Ticket
What do I need to be successful?
Materials: Guided notes and problem sets
What do I need to before next class?
Follow Up/HW: Complete all problems in handout.
